I know it's tempting to use the Sonic mode, but it drains energy at twice that of Ahead Standard, makes you sound like a really appealing food source to Ampeels, Crabsquids, and Leviathans, will probably start a fire, and has a top speed of 2 m/s more than Ahead Standard. It's a lot safer to have an extra shell around you as opposed to just hopping out in only your water pyjamas, especially since whatever killed your Cyclops probably is still nearby.Ĩ) Don't use Ahead Flank. If you have a repair tool, you can and should fix the problem before the problem fixes itself in the least helpful way possible.ħ) If you somehow fucked up and need to leave your Cyclops before it explodes and you have a vehicle docked, get out that way instead. If you're in Leviathan territory, be aware of your surroundings and keep a Stasis Rifle handy, but don't be that guy who doesn't bother to repair his Cyclops and then complains about how much damage Leviathans do. Silent Running away or just turn off your engine and wait for it to leave.Ħ) Repair your Cyclops. Based on personal experience, Leviathans are usually faster than you are if they decide they want that ass, and can and will decide to bite your Cyclops even more. Use this to manage threats before they become a problem.ĥ) If your Cyclops has just taken a Leviathan-class beating, don't bother with Ahead Flank. It shows where creatures will start attacking you based on noise and shows the potential threats.

If you decide to run into leviathan-infested waters in your Cyclops without shields, or a larger decoy tube, or a fire suppression system, that's on you for not building the countermeasures that were made easily accessible to you, especially if you lose your Cyclops.Ĥ) The miniature Cyclops in the cockpit has a faint blue sphere around it that changes size based on how much noise you're outputting. The modules are there for a reason, and a very good one at that. Pop Silent Running, launch a decoy, and skrrt away faster than a Crashfish on methamphetamine.ģ) Make the Cyclops upgrades.

There is no reason not to make at least one set, just in case you get surprised by a large hungry fish. You don't need to make a second one, just don't take too long in upgrading the module and you'll be fine.Ģ) Use your creature decoys. It takes damage far slower than a Seamoth when below crush depth, so it shouldn't be hard to upgrade the depth module without taking much damage.

Here's a quick guide on what you need to know to keep your Cyclops up and running when driving it through dangerous waters.ġ) The Cyclops is not a Seamoth. Greetings! As a new owner of the Cyclops submersible (copyright Alterra), you likely have some questions.
